Say you wish to have a personal (or, for development...) workstation, today!
What would you do?
We have considered, and can promptly provide this recommendation ...
Microsoft has recently developed the Microsoft Surface Studio (now in revision 2, ) PC for $6,349.00 CDN. It has a proper 3 x 2 aspect ratio. Nice.
The resolution is 4500 x 3000 pixels. 13.5M pixels
I7, 2TB, 32 GB RAM
While you can not connect two monitors, you can in fact, use two of them. This is proper, biological, in that if one fails, you at least have one remaining, for fail-over...
What about in the middle?
Apple has recently introduced an update to the Mac Mini. With it, you can use a proper 64 GB of RAM.
$5,199.00 ea
We recommend purchasing 8 of them for during development : in / for your small team. The hard drive is now SSD, which means you can use one, for moving or mobile use / development, without risk of easily damaging the / your data. The 8 is useful for when you are considering a room of 300, 500 ... a library wall. For your server. It also works well, for you!
You can use your Microsoft Surface Studios as monitors, and have your Apple Development interface in a Terminal Window as you would via Linux and SSH, previously. As you are not playing video games on them, refresh rate is not an issue.
I7, 6-core, 64 GB RAM, 2 TB SSD, 10 gigabit ethernet
Microsoft Surface Studio 2, $6,349.00 CDN ea, $12,698.00 CDN
Apple Mac Mini, $5,119.00 CDN ea, $40,952.00 CDN
Subtotal $53,650.00 CDN
TAX $6,438.00 CDN @ 12% BC HST
Total $60,088.00 CDN
Thank you.
