We were lucky enough to pick up the Armani Collectioni Men's Napa Leather Square Cut Blousson in Brown (reg. $4,775.00 CDN) for a mere $1,200 today.
This goes on the heels of the Prada Lamb Leather Unstructured Saffari Jacket in Brown (reg. ~$5,000.00 CDN) we were lucky to pick up from a swim-wear model for $365.00 CDN earlier. A review to follow, along with two we have been holding off on Coach, since Boxing Day, formidably.
This price (asking $1,300.00 CDN incl. taxes) got us thinking was about the dealer cost.
The $365 item got us thinking no so much about daily spending but about days of the year.
We met her, a lovely day, at Equinox to buy. A lovely fitness exercise facility specializing in Pilates, next to Stefano Ricci.
We were reticent to buy, seeing the photos - unworn - we had wished to buy it earlier as it had looked good on rack.
The reason being was that rather nothing was attractive about the item, and from looking we knew it the wrong thing to pick up, in that the design of the inside shearing was cut to resemble the buttocks of a woman.
It not being a woman, what was the point?
Likewise, when we had first looked at it, and wished to buy, on a whim in store - as it is a beautiful, beautiful piece, we though the laser cuts of the small squares (about 1 cm x 1 cm) left the item threadbare an easily to damage - why ruin a beautiful peace of leather?
Seeing this, we though, as Indians (from India) had been in the habit lately, of wearing gold shirts, woven, we thought that since the pieces would come off easily, anyway, we might as well have Armani fashion us the same piece of the same design, but with gold chits (little gold 3 mm thick 24K squares) or 18K for colour in the place of the cm leather pieces.
Since we had seen lovely Platinum weaving on the strap of an Omega watch, we figured a little solder (or melted gold) would hold the gold thread to connect the small gold squares - how Hollywood, not Bollywood?, handily...
Now the Colour (brown) of this Blousson Jacket is 650. This goes well with our Lucky Brand Flying Tiger 650 Leather Jacket (review to follow).
Of Armani, an interesting note, in person, is the zipper: Raccagmi. Nice: we are able to rack. To buy more, we need to assemble more racks. This contrasts to the zipper of the Matchless Leather Nubuck Suede Camouflage Reversible Jacket (~$2,000.00 CDN) whose zipper broke on first wear.
We only wore it to the dealer, as we had purchased it there. We will do the same with the Armani. It makes us look fat - which isn't appropriate to look in front of the beautiful sales ladies of Holt Renfrew - yet it is appropriate for a single wear and then back in the bag - to look appropriately - to look at other jackets.
