Roll v. Zegna

We looked at the Rolls-Royce Phantom ($880,000.00 CDN incl. tax), the in-store, non-extended wheel base version at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Vancouver some while back.

Previously, the store manager had been away, in Toronto, on business, and the Phantom had not been in store that week. We looked at two Wraiths, they had a Ghost, or two, also, and the Dawn, preferably. It had been / was beautiful!

Steven Wu, the Brand Manager, had been in, and was kind to show us the Phantom, in person.

It was a lovely car. We looked at the width of the doors, and the place for the umbrellas, in person. We briefly noted the dash, but the car had a "new car" smell, so we did not get in.

Interestingly, the car was $660,000.00 CDN as configured, non extended-wheel-base, yet there is a 25% (as opposed to 12% HST tax) tax in Canada!

We had planned to list the options, and provide the photos here, but the store does no provide a website, providing the in-store option.

25%. That's like giving away 1/4 of your money to some stranger, for no reason. Why?

As we walked away, we had a good feeling. The 25% made us feel optimistic - aah, at least that's not the 80% income tax or what, in Denmark (a socialist Utopia), or here previously, in the 1920's, in Canada.

Thoughts we had not had previously...

It brings to mind, then, and the Case For Zegna as opposed to Rolls-Royce. $880,000.00 CDN.
That's the exact number of the Zegna Alligator Coats, before-tax, in 16 colours.

True, you pay a little more, ($985,600.00 CDN), closer to a million (our subscription price), and yet you get 16-colours, something you can wear.
