Review: iFi Micro and Nano iDSD DA's

Listening to headphones, one of the best DAC's we've reviewed was the iFi micro iDAC. At only 150 mW it was more than capable of delivering the AKG Q701's to good levels. Together, they were an audio enthusiast's good hi-fi package - on a budget.

At the time, there was also the micro iCan, but it was not needed.

We considered the micro iDAC but because of the 24/192 capability did not necessarily get it for our stable of review gear.

We did prudently purchase the iFi micro iUSB Power along with the Gemini Cable, however.

Now, there is the iFi micro iDSD, and nano iDSD DA's, however.

At a headphone power level of a maximum of 4 watts (4000 mW's), the iFi micro iDSD is capable of a hell of a lot of power.

While the side ports of the iDSD are Maserati like, we're almost tempted to call it the Porsche Panamera (turbo, of course) of headphone amplifiers.

On the sides, there are 3 modes: eco (how Fisker), normal (so Porsche Cayanne), and, of course, turbo (yo, Panamera!)!

We'd like to say that we'll put it right through it's paces.

From the Sennheiser IE-800 (not to mention, the 80), to righteous AKG Q701.
