Let's look at the Burson Audio Timekeeper Virtuoso Amplifier ($3,450.00 USD).
The photos are compelling.
The THD at 1W is pathetic. Very 1970's.
1W, @8 Ohms, 20-20k <-78dbr
1W, @4 Ohms, 20-20k <-74dbr
The THD at 100W is all-right.
100W, @8 Ohms,20-20k <-98dbr
100W, @4 Ohms,20-20k <-96dbr
The power, 100 watts, is very in-sufficient. You wonder how such a massively sized object can produce so little. Our Sony TA-N55ES produces 110W at 8 ohms. This would not even be sufficient for our PSB Stratus Gold Loudspeakers, a very noble depet.
How about a pair?
Together, the Burson Audio Timkeeper Virtuoso Amplifiers ($6,900.00 USD).
300 watts at 8 ohms
600 watts at 4 ohms (distortion < 1%, 1 kHz)
This is Classé!
How would the pair compare sonically to our ADCOM GFA-555? 200 watts at 8 ohms, 325 at 4 ohms. We would need to ensure the power is the same, roughly halving the input to the Burson.
