Audeze EL-8 Headphone Review

Audeze EL-8 Headphones
We've had the chance to look at the closed back model of the Audeze EL-8 Headphone, but not the open-back.

Having looked at something pretty (the Jarre Aerotwist Advert), let's look at something ugly: the Audeze EL-8 Headphone ($699.00 USD).

Never have we heard something so ugly as the Audeze EL-8 Closed Back Headphone, driven by the WOO Audio WA7 Fireflies and WA7tp Power Supply.

When we say ugly, we are of course referring to the sound, and not the visual appearance of the Audeze EL-8 Headphone - either closed, or open-back model in question.

Bring your attention to the contrast between rough concrete and veneer used in the Jarre Areopress Advert. Veneer is used in speakers, and it's beautiful.

Now look at the veneer used in the Audeze EL-8. It's ugly, because it's flat.

We like the EL-8 for the design aesthetic. BMW has done a poor job, overall, but then produced a wonderful (beautiful) headband, side-cup, and amazing (take on the iPhone connector) innovative ear-piece connector.

We had hoped to get a free pair for our models, Summer and Rain, to model, but may not after this review.

The Audeze EL-8 is marketed as the headphone for the masses, and very well may pair well with the Oppo HA-2 Headphone Amplifier ($300, Johnny Walker Blue Bottle price) for the walking masses - that is, cosmetic "luxury" inebriation, when a mid-level cut is offered.

We've always been aghast at any mid-level product - what's the point of the middle class except as annoyances ? - with exception of those products of Mount Blanc with exception of their value pen ($100) and particularly with a certain model of eyewear at $700.00 USD which allows one to pretend membership in this un-dentured middle class.

Le Pen may have a field day with our cosmetic inspiration.
