Some people get all the fun.
Larry Greenhill gets to review
SV Sound SB13-Ultra subwoofer, and John Atkinson gets to review the
KEF LS 50. Money and Diet.
We're stuck with the
KEF X300A and we gave our Velodyne F1500R away. Boo Hoo. To review more products, we'll have to move to a new home.
Vancouver's got a great market, filled with many retailers. The average cost of a home is $1M, and $30M get's you a top-performer indeed.
Vancouver's Hi Fi Centre has moved from it's old home on Seymour to 433 Carrall St in Crosstown. It's growing time, in the city.
It's funny. You look at a loudspeaker like the KEF LS 50 and think it's cheap. Then you see it and it looks lovely. Then, you look closely and it looks cheap, or your alter your focal point and make it soft, or make it shine. You look at the marketing and think it's definitely cheap - marketed to appear to be used as pro-audio loudspeaker. It's got shiny sides like the NHT Super Zero, which will scratch, upon placement, and even the $30,000 speaker+ by Kef (Kef Blade), doesn't sound real - how cheap will this one sound, you wonder.
They're not Bose 901's, but could any type of music sound good on them? Any?
At $1500.00 USD / pair, they're the Hi Fi Industry (Stereophile)'s calling point - luxury affordability - something special in your home. We see nothing wrong with the curve of the front face, the label below the driver, and the divots, but that's it.
The curve on the top of the lower left speaker is particularly nice, but the cabinet is cheap. No matter.
