Teac - On the Desk

whathifi.com/teac/ud-h01/review

We inserted the Teac UD (User Diaphragm) DAC H01 D/A under our Shaw converter unit (CISCO DPC 3825). As such, it was complimentary. It was the same resolution as our FiiO Olympus D/A converter, but had a bigger hole (1/4").

A the back, it had 3-pin XLR jacks, which we connected to our Stax, with pleasing results. It was better than our AudioEngine D (Dunce) 1, which we could turn on or off, and still leave, connected.

We look forward to trying it with our Proceed (Mark Levinson) Pre, and comparing it to the 24/96 DA of the Mark Levinson's PAV, a top-shelf unit, previously from Proceed / ML. ($300 ebay.com).

We had wanted to purchase the Teac A-H01, to connect to our Teac S300NEO's in Cherry, http://www.teac.com/product/a-h01/specifications/, but it was not available, locally.

Let's look at the below Chakra diagram (6moons.com), and see how they align with the input-selector module of the UD-301 (front).

Our Blue Yeti Pro was fully erect. There was a slight kink in one of our Neutrik cables. Once connected, the sound was about equal to that of the AudioEngine D1 DAC powered by the iUSB Power.

The TEAC provided more substantial and deeper bass, and a more natural vocal tone, however, we  preferred the Audio Engine. If you have some powered speakers, and need a DA, we recommend the Audio Eg.

What a revelation.
