So who makes a good headphone amplifier?
In the new THX Rated Massdrop AAA 888 Headphone Amplifier DAC ($ USD), it claims some ground-breaking specs (and technology), and yet, if you check the specs, it's not as good as a Hegel Super DAC ($399.00 USD, -140 dB).
And yet, if you see introductory video for the Sennheiser HDVD 800 Headphone Amplifier / DAC ($ USD), and listen to Alex Grell, you think you'll know. It's got great German Engineering!
Now, the Sennheiser HDV 820 Headphone Amplifier ($3,199.95 CDN) comes out, and it's kind of noble (see pics), kind of like the Sony, which resembles a bedroom scale. In the bedroom, we use it (the Sennheiser HDV 820 Headphone Amplifier / DAC), coupled with a Shunyata Sigma NR Power Cable upgrade.
