PERFECT FOR A $10M STEREO SYSTEM.
This one actually does (can handle and has a sufficient dynamic range - the same as a Bryston 28B SST3 Power Amplificer = for DSD).
The DAC (Digital to Analogue Converter) doesn't need to be the most important (and most expensive) component in a stereo.
Platinum is like the ring material you'd use in a fancy diamond engagement ring.
Antelope, the name, is like Ant and elope: like a working man having an affair. Fantastic.
The 64-bit AFC Technology moniker we read as 64-bit FLAC Technology and that is exactly what we'd like, and what we'd like to see it do.
It's dynamic range is fantastic at 129 dB. That's 21-bit. It actually does DSD. We don't know about the dynamic range for DSD 2x, however. The Korg MDR-2000 won't do 129 dB.
It has two holes for headphones, but no Balanced Audio (BA) I/O.
It looks great, and scientific, however. We could see in a lab, easily, or on our desk, doing nothing. It's that good!
In looks, see photos, it's like a mini NAIM Statement Amplifier.
In design, it's cute, like a bedside AM/FM radio with two speakers.
In Canadian, it's $18,000.00 CDN with the 10M Rubidium Power Supply (external).
IN US, it's $5,500.00 USD with the two-unit version (without the clock). That's the same original list price as the B&W Matrix 801 Series 3 Loudspeaker ($5,500.00 USD) when it first came out.
