It does not take a lot of amplifier power to power a Klipsch Forte Loudspeaker ($ USD).
Developed in ... it's sensitivity is 98 dB SPL, 1 watt 1 meter with a Frequency Response of 32 Hz to 20 kHz +/- 3 dB.
Not only good for the time (though not mastering level), it is good for today, and makes a solid recommendation.
How would one power it (the Klipsch Forte Loudspeaker) today?
Metrum Acoustics makes a well performing (and well specified) collection of DACs, today. It's Adagio DAC ($ USD) for example, has - 145 dB SNR. It's Pavane DAC ($ USD), also.
Intermodulation (IM) distortion was conquered by Bob Carver (unmeasurable). Unmeasurable then, but perhaps not now ... it clocks (IM distortin) in at 73 dB.
Speaker doubling (power) is solid good to 4 ohms.
At 2 ohms, it runs off to 170 watts.
