Can you be well-built but poorly performing?
Gorgeous looking on the back, like the WEE* ($499.00 USD), while it is poor looking in photos, the Woo Audio WA6 Headphone Amplifier ($ USD) is incredibly good-looking in person. In fact, it exemplifies everything a headphone enthusiast would want in his/her home.
Now, the Woo Audio WA6 Headphone Amplifier is poor performing, however. In fact, it is a pile of shit.
However, used as to drive a non-efficient speaker, say a Klipsch Heressy III (1 watt, 96 dB efficiency, 8 ohms impedance) ... it is all-right.
The 93 dB Signal to Noise (SNR) ratio will not be so noticeable at such a low volume (96 dB), and the 15 Hz (-3 dB) flow cut-off-point will not be an issue here.
As for the THD (0.3%) it will not be an issue if records are used for replay, primarily. It is nice in that it can be lowered.
