HiFiMan HE-500 Headphone ($500-$600 USD) is unbelievably the world's best headphone (90% of the Audeze LCD-3). Mainstream.
It's good enough for the gaming enthusiast to parlay to before the Sennheiser HD 800 S ($2,199.00 CDN) and good enough for the audiophile in the studio.
You'll want to forget the following models of the HiFiMan Line: HE-400, HE-400i, HE-400S, and of course the HE-560. HiFiMan HE-1000 requires something of a headphone skirt. We mean it. For openness. The HiFiMan HE-6 is well recommended at the $1000 price.
Now us saying this (that the 500 is best) is a bit like a watch enthusiast saying that the Rolex Submariner in Aluminum (Date or No Date model, NATO Strap say) is the world's best watch (young), or that Patek Philippe watch is the best (say older user).
While we certainly admire the Patek Perpetual Calendar (Patek Philippe Sky Moon Tourbillon 5002, Graves Supercomplication), but what's wrong with the Maitres Du Temps Chapter One?
Watching technology does not offer great pleasure, but it does give something to do.
