Classical Politics: The NeXTdimension Video Card

NeXTDimensionimage

The year was 1990 and Steve Jobs had ...

NeXTdimension

The NeXTdimension featured the Intel i860 (33 MHz) and had 8 to 32 MB of RAM, 4 MB of video (V) RAM and 32-bits colour.

Resolution was a low 1120 by 832 although on a 17" display (92 dpi). 1280 x 1024 was common at the time, and 1600 x 1200 more preferable.

The board featured video output (and input), though, however. NTSC, S-Video, composite (RCA), and RGB.

For audio use, a monophonic input/output (speaker/mic) was provided (plus stereo RCA).

Like the MacMini of today, the device featured dual monitor output, so you could drive a MegaPixel Colour Display and/or a MegaPixel (1120 x 832, 2 bits per pixel) Monochrome Colour Display simultaneously.

You can pick up a 19" .24 1600 x 1200 CRT Monitor (Planet Systems) for $191.70 USD today, and the PigTail Video Converter for VGA is available for $49.95.

Many of us remind of the NeXT for audio applications, kindly.
