Parasound HCA-2200II Stereo Amplifier Review

In mono operation, the 750 watts RMS into 8 ohms is rather high. You'd find this same power capability in the Rockford Fosgate R750-1D at 1 ohm ($549.00 CDN) or the Musical Fidelity 750K Supercharger at 8 ($10,000.00 / pair).

The frequency response is rather admirable. (2 Hz-95 kHz, +0/-1.5 dB). With +/- 3 dB, you may expect it to hit - or exceed 100 kHz.

The cross-talk is rather low.  (>84 dB at 1 kHz,  >74 dB at 20 kHz).

You would expect the signal to noise ratio (114 dB) to be higher today by 10 dB.

One nit, is that the amplifier is rather too high for our practice (7"). Despite stated dimensions of 19" wide x 7" high x 15" deep, it was unable to fit into our stereo rack (55" wide, 7 3/12" high, 18 5/12" deep) in the component position.

To wit, we purchased the Adcom GFA-555II ($ USD, 200 watts), a less admirable amp, which, having removable footers, was able to fit in place. Our reviewer, JR, was loathe to point out that the Parasound HCA-2200II had a damping factor of 1000.
