The Absolu!e Sound,
You give your writers a bit of lee-way. Andrew Quint wrote that: "One hopes that the event isn’t back in 2016."

Is this the attitude that you wish your writers espousing?
Andrew mentions that the event featured twenty-six (26) award categories, featuring five nominees in each category.
One images that the Hi Fi writer must be something of a collector. To have the top five (5) components in contention for each year.
A film auteur may be familiar with the scope of cinematography, so that they may not know every movie produced, they most likely have seen - and remembered - sincerely the top 5 movies in the twenty-four (24) categories of nominees for the Oscars, for example.

Obviously it will cost the writer considerably more fiscally to purchase the sun-diary equipment every year than it would be to see the Oscar films in the theater.
This encompasses the audiophile perspective.
Sincerely,
John Paul Fiket
