2.3

An out of  head binaural stereo experience is often hard to have, without a decent stereo or the Sennheiser HD800 Headphone.

Today, we had a strange experience. The PSB Stratus gold rendered McLaughlin's voice nicely - it had been harsh and grating on the iPad Mini Retina 2 in the posterior.

With a software installation hold-up on the HP Pavillion PC, we switched to the Mac Mini 2012 (Server) and Stax Omega 2 Headphones. Elenor's voice was now audible in the background (as commentary), replaying the same McLaughlin Group web material on YouTube.

Then something strange happened. We could hear a male voice 15% left of center, out the front. Had "out-of-head imagining" occurred on the Stax ...?

This was something only the Sennheiser 800 could handle, and maybe the ... on a different (German female) shaped head, namely Sabine Meik (Bini).

The actual title of this should be 2.3.5 as the PSB Stratus Gold (non-i) is a 3.5 way loudspeaker. We use a PSB SG along with a Rotel 980BX Amplifier with a Calynx Coffee DAC in mono configuration. It's been a long time since we've used it, however. Previously a Quad 405 Current Dumping amplifier configured in mono performed this duty.

We note that the wearing of Stax Omega II headphones (007) while listening to PSB Stratus Gold computer loudspeaker improves the sounds.

We place a single PSB Loudspeaker 2 meters at 15% left from the ear. A Jay Tursen Vintage Series Electric Guitar Stand-Mounted serves as a to-mono diffuser, about 1.1 ft from the front of the loudspeaker. Without it, the sound is not listenable.
