The Mega Cycle

We've inoccuantly joked about the mega cycle. What about the mega cycle sampling rate? As sampling rates approach 1 MHz, we'll have playback frequencies approaching 5x of the Steinheim Reference Statement System. Not only that, but we'll have a fine state in headphone (Apt X) technology.

Should we mention the SPL Phonitor 2 Headphone Amplifier? It offers a nor-end reasonable playback response of 4 Hz - 480 kHz (+/- 1.5 dB). 1 Hz would be fine at the bottom-end.

An extra 3 Hz on the bottom end, on the SPL Phonitor 2, for the bass, and an extra 20 on the top, of it's headphone amplifier section is not... far to go.

B&K is now making a 100 kHz microphone, so it is not only the Japanese now: actually a 140 kHz model.

Can we expect a 500 kHz spec to account for the playback rates of today's DSD?

44.1/48/88.2/96/176.4/192/384KHz PCM

2.8/3.1/5.6/6.2/11.2/12.4MHz DSD
