When one thinks of Continuum, one thinks of Stargate. To be fair, there is something theatrical about the Continuum logo on the Jeff Rowland Continuum S2 Integrated Amplifier ($9,500.00 USD+). When one looks at it as a product, however, wit the 33.0 one is more inclined to think it is a modern home theatre processor, displaying a tuning frequency as a Remanent connected to the past, or, given the size and look, a power supply conditioner, able to display the line voltage, incoming.
What's absolutely amazing, however, is the sheer power for an integrated amplifier. Four hundred (400) watts. That's equivalent to a Devialet Expert 400. Eight hundred watts at 4 ohms (800W).
While the complexity of the face plate is far from the beautiful cosmetics of Jeff Rowland of old - and of present in other non-integrated products - one can well understand then, the size of the product, if one compares it to a pair of Bryston monoblock amplifiers like the 7B SST2 (600W, 900W @ 4 ohms).
That the Continuum employs power doubling and the Bryston 7B - an integrated amp vs a reference monoblock - does not is something of an amazing concurrent possibility - that would be the mark of France's Devialet.
It's a pity to bring the Devil into it, but both Devialet of France and Jeff Rowland of Colorado, USA have some very fine reputations.
