Home Computer

For the home computer, we can make several recommendations.

1. PSB Stratus Gold Loudspeaker, Rotel RB-980BX Amplifier, Transparent Audio "The Wave" Cable, Calynx Coffee DAC
2. B&O Beolit 12 Speaker
3. B&W MM-1 Desktop Speakers

The Calynx Coffee is cheap and inexpensive. You will find better sounding audio out of your computer by default, but it will give you an RCA out, and, with a speaker, it is rather good enough for The Voice.

While the PSB Stratus Gold Loudspeaker ($ USD) does not stand up to today's loudspeakers, in single use, it is quite a good home compliment to the RCA mono loudspeaker of the Golden Age of Audio. As such, we can recommend the Calynx DAC.

While the cables of Transparent Audio (www.transparentaudio.com) are not inexpensive, we can truthfully recommend the lower-end cables of the line up to the Opus XL. We can recommend the lowest-end cable as being rather effective with a ... system, sans computer.

The Rotel 980 BX is old and well, dated. It's a fine design that is unfortunately without any proper bass. While it will not drive a classic like the B&W Matrix 801 to any enjoyable capability, or any other Rotel amp, for that matter, it's good enough for some PSB.

The system cost is ... when new.
