Ayre MX-R Twenty Ampliifer Review

When the Ayre MX-R Monoblock Amplifier ($16,500.00 USD / pair), came out it was a very attractive product - priced exactly the same as the Devialet D-Premier ($16,500.00 USD) Amplifier. It resonated with both the collector, due to it's cute size, it's reasonable power (300W) and it's monoblock nature, not to mention its choice chassis - 1/4 billet vs. 3/4 air.

Not a lot of power Amplifiers are cut so well. Only the D-Premier comes with their Delivery (we'll wrapped, you'll see.)

That extra 60 watts will get you something - a Jeff Rowland Consumate to make an introward joke - a Jeff Rowland Model 1 to be exact: about right for powering just about any loudspeaker.

Now reviewers are not just any speaker. They play with a wide swath of power amplifiers, and speakers, most unexpectedly.

As such, a Reviewer's Tool , must be up to the task.

A power amplifier like the Electrocompaniet Nemo ($ USD) at 600 watts is just about right. Dark, and foreboding.

At 300 watts, the Ayre MX-R ($16,500.00 USD) is just about enough. Good enough for every day use, and stretching, usable for higher-power / higher-current delivery needed for larger and ubber review speakers.

If low-powered speakers, an amplifier like the class-A 165W Sugden MasterClass MPA-4 ($ USD).

Now the Ayre MX-R Twenty Monoblock Amplifier ($29,500.00 USD) comes out and it is a different question. We have lots of 20's we say. It looks good. Should we get it?

That's a lot of 20's. 1475. More than you will likely (as do we) have in your (our our) bill-fold. That's verging on a cash-drawer, well-compressed. Try something for Ferragamo. Not a lot of pop and delivery.

Now the MX-R Twenty is subject to 55% (55.9322) inflation from it's premonint. That extra $13,000.00 USD will go a long way to helping Ayre deliver on it's next power amplifier.

Between every product, automobile manufactures deliver a number of derivative products posed as new products. Think that the release of the last Bugatti Veyron across from the first received no applause. That's not much of a La Finale. And Ferrari (Le Ferrari) owners and Lamborghini owners are not except.

Does one even need a Tricolour?

Regardless, while not liking it on the Ayre KX-R Twenty (a stupid little pre-amplifer who makes loud Somanian-esque - a beautiful language - clicks) we really like that little Twenty badge on the Ayre MX-R. Yes, it makes it cheaper.

It would be a more attractive product, that Z would really stand-out, without.

The watts, we're afraid are the same. Watts 300. Uneventful.

Let's give it to Jeff Tain Watts and the cast of Ayre.

As a drummer, he was phenomenal.

As a film company, they've got movement.

There is issue in their release.

Conclusion: If Twenty-Nine-Thousand-Five-Hundred-Dollars ($29,500) is equivalent to you as $20 [USD] is to the average person (1 in 4,054,054), then the Ayre MX-R Twenty Monoblock Amplifier is recommended.
