Audiophile retailers can make a pretty penny, selling Stax, and a dime or dollar, selling cable.
The Cable Company offers many excellent headphone options. They have a High End Headphone Lending Library, consisting of models from Sennheiser and Fostex, amoung others.
For actual cables, a step up on the Stax line is Nordst. Their Valhalla is available (for a limited time) for $8,499.99 USD.
