Hi Fi Art

Examining the Samsung SGH-C414Y Flip Phone ($80.59 USD, $100.00 CDN), which we like for it's surface texture, resembling a three piece suit, secondarily, we noticed an interesting discrepancy.

We might more accurately title this article "Marketing in Hi Fi."

There are 4 (four) options of camera resolution in this basic phone.

320 x 240 is cute.
640 x 480 is a standard.
1280 x 960 is a poor screen choice.
1600 x 1200 is a professional resolution.

As for 1600, we presently have at 1600 MHz, 4 GB of memory, running at 1600 MHz on our computer. That's not enough. It should at least be upgraded to 16 GB.

Although preferring the Apple iPhone for pocket use as a music player, and take out use for music selection occasionally, we prefer the Samsung* for it's affordable ($100) replacement price.
As for resolutions, we have divested ourselves of interest in the Apple iPad Mini, although it functions nicely as a remote control.

240 x 320 pixels, a 2.0MP camera, and 50MB of user memory*.

That's the discrepancy.

Now, 1600 x 1200 is "marketed" on the phone as 2M+ or 2 million (mega) pixels. In actuality, it's only 1,920,000.

+ It's interesting that we preferred 1280 x 1024 (5:4) as a usable resolution on a NEC 5FG, while 1280 x 960 (4:3) was sub-optional, and 1024 x 768, very poor.

That's the discrepancy.

Writing Style

Last night we looked at many Japanese knives. We noticed that there were many $5000.00 USD - $8,000.00 knives, which we had known, previously via Amazon.com. It is our desire to review matters pertaining to audio and also art, so it would not now be appropriate to conduct knife reviews.

In our custom knife (non Shun) block, there is available space for three (3) knives. We considered getting the Shun Premier 6" Chef's Knife ($228.00 USD), Shun Premier 5.5" Santoku ($228.00 USD) and Shun Premier Bread Knife ($262.00 USD) to complete our Shun Premier Collection (non-Carving Fork).

These best go in the living section.

Look at the blade surface of the Shun Premier 6" Chef's Knife, and you will see three sections. The water, the beach and the shore.
