Back Story: Hi Fi in Residence

Finding a home for your Hi Fi can be a tricky (read: expensive) proposition. Kharma first tackled it by offering a basement ($1M) along with a stereo system. Here we consider three home floor plan layouts centering around the 8000+ sq. ft. range. This would be a $2M home, typically, but, given the floor plans are suites actually in 998 5th Avenue, New York the prices are in the $24M - $32M range, before any Hi Fi - or renovation.

In a city such as Vancouver or any Mid-West USA city, you should be able to renovate a library for $800,000.00 CDN, while in New York, the prices will be higher per room.

This first layout is a doozy. It's the most suited for a family, of the three, and offers something of  a large living room. We prefer the setup of the gallery, which is reminiscent of the Hotel Georgia in Vancouver, and like that it leads into the formal living room.

One could easily place loudspeakers on the back wall (narrower side) of this living room, and get decent sub-bass (16 Hz) response, given the 32 ft dimension. Diffusion panels (3) might line this rear wall, or else a bookshelf might line this wall, for the same purpose, floor to ceiling.

The listening chair might be placed in this rear location, separate from the fireplace (wide) seating area (section), and facing this (perhaps a rotating chair) listening area.
