Joe Grado : Beyond the Bore

Hi Fi Propaganda hit a new low with the release of this press. Joe Grado has just passed away at 90.

Far from bored, we are adamant that Grado makes some of the best headphones, today.

While the headphones of Grado & Co. were uncomfortably Goethe, the box and packaging was intuitively lovely. You can just see the Stax Lambda outline in the Grado blue foam inset. Look how delightful the long white Grado box is with grey, orange and a logo out of the 1920's. The heyday of Aynn Rand capitalism. The highlight of industry.

Grado has to be making some of the worst-sounding, and worst-fitting headphones, today. The SR-325 Prestige, is lovely, however.

Sennheiser was producing their lovely HD 560 Ovation (1989), HD 560 Ovation II (1991), and HD 580 (1994) which were comfortable beyond belief (16 Hz - 30,000 Hz, 300 Ohms, Ovation II), so Joe Grado entered the market with his HP-1 (1991), HP-2, and HP-3 headphones. How Goethe. My my.

Holmes Powell, they were also kind to produce an award-winning battery powered headphone amplifier, and later, a balanced version, thereof. We can not say much for the headphones, however, due to their sound, comfort and looks that outclass our mere nostalgia.

He looked like a friendly man, but Joe Grado designed some of the most uncomfortable headphones today. Long rest his soul and friendly cantor.

Looking back at Grado, How Master & Dynamic they are!

For those wishing a most comfortable headphone today, Oppo Digital has the PM-1 ($1099), PM-2 ($699), and PM-3 ($399).

A finely dressed man, and intelligent to boot, Goebbels promoted the arts and culture of via the sale of cheap hi fi radios, in the manner of Art Dudley.

Long rest his vision.
