Double D's: The Dunu DN-2000 Headphone

The AKG K3003 is a nice in-ear headphone that we don't quite like. ($1299.00 CDN). It does come with a good box. That we like.

For $349.00, the Dunu DN-2000 offers somewhat of a Dunhill alternative, marketed at the Russian type. It's a bit flashy, and not that substantial in taste or design. You do get your value in included accessories, however.

Like the AKG, the Dunu (and the Etoymotic ER-4) includes Balanced Armature (BA) drivers. Unlike the AKG, and eToy, it includes 2. Like the AKG, a single dynamic driver (DD) is used for the bass. Oh my.

This is not an adverse arrangement, but why the inclusion of multiple drivers in a single case - it muddies the sound.
10Hz-30KHz is about good. You'll find more response on a speaker, but this is about good as it gets on a headphone.
102+/-2dB is about right for an in-ear headphone arrangement.

The pro's get away with this. Playing music on stage, they don't care, rather. They just want it loud, and to hear themselves and the notes - nothing else. It's not a question of quality. Jerry Harvey (JH) is indicative of this.

Should you be an admirer of the Dan D'Agostino Momentum (we are not), we can recommend these ear-phones. ($349.00 USD). It's a copper look that has faded. The Momentum would be better in gold. For such, the Makuti dog tag in Bronze and Steel ($100.00 CND) is a better toy.

We listened to them at Headphone Bar, where we also listened to the 3003.
