Vegas or Vardas

Life can be a bit like Q-Bert.

You look at a product that looks nice and realize you already have one that looks like it, and does the same thing, essentially.*

You see what looks to be a crazy man, and see no hope in his ware. It might be nice connected to a PC, the PONO, due to it's shape and LCD screen. A better looking bit of memorabilia perhaps.

We see the Rubicon, and realize that it's just astrology. Craziness, not for the price ($40K, a more traditional pre-amp or a bling ring), but for the aesthetic.

We are as you call it.

There's a distinction between product and reality. What's an atomic semi-warning (low-rad) symbol doing on a non-rad device? You know by the AUDIOPHILE EDITION label that it's a marketing gimmick. When you see the antelope, think "bright eyes".

* in our case, it's the Audio Alchemy HPA v1.0, our first non-audiophile ne pas de hi-fi+ component.
+ When writing this article, we were reminded of the AudioEngine D1, which sits at the foot of our Stax.
