Esoteric

Of the Esoteric products, we can recommend the P-02 SACD/CD transport, and the D-02 DA Converter. We can not recommend the Grandioso series, as the reverse vaginal motif plainly says that Esoteric gives birth to them, however they may be appealing to Wymen.

The 10 MHz and 22.5792 MHz word-synchronization frequencies are impressive.

Analogue users may appreciate the rubidium clock.

The dual-mono nature of the DAC is good, as is the 8 DAC's / channel, like Triangle.

We do not know what to make of the 35-bit processing, though a 35-bit DA performance would generate a S/N of 210.7 dB.

Like in photography, the extra bits may account for unspecified performance. THD is a low: 0.0008% (1 kHz).

Format handling is impressive (exactly as we like: PCM to 384.8 kHz, DSD) and sub-24 bit S/N may account for cumulative effect of 8 DA's [32-bit AK 4399] : 115dB.

DSD 2x may be added at a later revision, and is advantageously available in the Grandioso D1.

We reference the Grandioso components informally.

They are quite good yet remind us of the Sony ES CDP-R1 (1987) and DAS-R1 which used a twin-link, which was also proprietary to the Grandioso's selection and use (of HDMI). Compositionally, they have a Denon DP-S1 growing in them.

As we are talking about sex, we might as well bring up the Denon POA-S1 monoblock, which was notable to be displayed in store with an acrylic cover in place of an EMI shielding top-plate.

You will like Esoteric if you are a top-hi-fi affiliate.
