The Sonja, their present production model is available between $72,800.00 USD and $106,800.00 USD, depending on configuration. While their billet-core technology is starting to show progress, and other were wowed with their Anat, we were most impressed with their case-mod architecture on their YG Voyager.
Perhaps like the Voyager ($100,000 USD), Yoav Geva is a voyager on his own terms and conditions. He entered Hi Fi alone with YG Acoustics, and released three leading products (The Anat, The Anat Signature, and the Voyager) claiming "the best loudspeaker in the world." They took on all contenders, including Alon Wolf's Magico and are amoung the few, including Stenheim, to produce an all-aluminum loudspeaker.
YG Voyager, Pair.
The problem, as we see it, with their present loudspeakers, the Hailey and Carmel excepted, is their height.
Only fans of RKO and ZBS or perhaps those like Daniel Plainview in "There Will be Blood" will likely find their height and transmission tower (derelict) -look appealing. Source: Rocky Horror Picture Show.....
It's a bit like the Genesis Advanced Technologies 1.2 loudspeaker. Arnie Nudell designed the transmission line implementation of his speaker drivers to account for typical ceiling interaction at typical ceiling heights.
He designed his speaker to be something of a wall, with two towers, and we'd rather have something like the MBL 101 X-treme or the Verity Audio Monslavat, in terms of design, thank you, Arnie.
Note the sloping lines, and the tear-drop if you see them from the top.
Like the MBL 101 X's woofer section, the YG Carmel 2 is nicely sculpted. Sand comes to mind when we see the exterior. Sand blasting, likely. It's solid.
Now, take a speaker like the Totem Element Earth. It's phenomenal. Look at it. It's worth $899.50 CDN. It retails for $8995.00 CDN - ten times up - manufactured in Canada. Unlike the Totem Element Earth, we wouldn't say that the YG Carmel 2 needs a 10x reduction in price to be worth it's value.
Or weight, for that matter. It's 66 pounds, despite all-aluminum constriction, in it's previous incarnation. Much nicer looking, in it's present.
It's size and look are diminutive. It would be the perfect house present, like a bag of roses...
"Look hun, here's a Carmelita." [wife] "Wow, it's a YG Carmel 2." [man]
And it, like a Ming vase, would be nicely accepted by the host. [phew]
Like a Lawrence Audio Violin, you can't put down someone for giving you a YG Carmel 2. It's good.
You can see them in the dinner room of Celine Dion's Lavale Estate ($30M) drawing room or a larger traditional dining room in the United States of America.
They're really the perfect pre-dinner gift for the golf-club member in good standing you happen to visit per chance.
As for their association, box of roses springs to mind, or by the name, Camel and yet, Caramel.
The 2013 reported price of a Camel according to Africa Geographic was US $700 (R 6,700). So $709.60 USD (adjusted 1.4%) for US inflation, 2013-2014. Although we have no actual inflation data for Camels directly, Kenyan inflation was 6.09% [http://www.tradingeconomics.com/kenya/inflation-cpi] for November, and between 3.18% and 31.5%, overall. Going by 6.09%, you're looking a price of 64,140 KES (Keynan Shillings), or $826.42 CDN / $709.71 USD / 44940.82 IPR / ₪ 2,790 ISL today.
The price of a box of Caramel's is undelighted, but would you be Yoav Geva, and living in the United States, via Israel, you could bring in quite a few camels for your kids, for their American holidays, though you would need your personal desert, should you wish to enjoy riding them.
The value of the Camel is undisputed. It provides comfort in the desert, and transportation, to boot. You don't need to feed it, as it provides it's own store of water.
The YG Carmel 2 provides sonic confections in a desert cast rose. Like Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's Le Petite Prince found wedded comfort in his rose, you will find an undying love in your YG Carmel 2.
Yours,
John Paul Fiket
