U Power

An audiophile's life can get complicated. For that, there is UPOWER by KingRex.

Like the iFi Micro iUSBPower, the KingRex U Power USB Power Supply provides a USB 5V power output. This is handy if you have a DAC like the FiiO D3, which can take SPDIF input, yet uses USB for power input.

Unlike the Micro iUSBPower, however the KingRex U Power it doesn't provide data throughput, so you'll still want to keep your iUSBPower around for data filtration, or use it exclusively, if you have a DAC such as the Calyx Coffee, which uses USB as it's only port for both power and music data.

Still, it is a handsome unit. A bit like ART's Tube MP.

Now, if you don't mind a standard power supply, the U Power is fine on it's own. Otherwise, KingRex offer's the PSU Mk II, otherwise targeted at the UD 384 DAC, which can produce the 7.5V DC the U Power uses.

Now, with a double-headed cable such as iFi's Gemeni USB, it would be still possible to use the KingRex U Power as your power supply lead, and your PC still for the data - but we'll leave that experiment for others to carry out.

KingRex makes a whole
