LS 77

It's hard to believe, but this one is even too gaudy for us. The tweeter is one of the more attractive. If the colour of the drivers was changed to match the cabinet, then perhaps we would change our opinion.

Perhaps it's the brushing used on the front face of the case - the logo and model inscription is just fine, or perhaps it's the way that the tweeter hole is non-standard. We likewise don't like the look of the woofer felts or holes, although maybe they have a beneficial acoustic effect, just like those of the absolutely famous Duntech Sovereign 2001 reference loudspeaker.

In the aspect of near-field monitors, perhaps the LS 77 is marketed to the same audience as the gold-plated workstation: the gold record producing, Grammy awarded producer. We're thinking the OpenLabs Neko, 24K edition.

We like the look of the tube port however. It's a feature that is poorly done, usually. The back plate is a bit much, but this one is solid. You could really see it on your mixing desk, should you have a project studio.
