Joseph Grado is very much alive. We have his Grado Black, which replaced our Goldring Elektra and Lyra Clavis Da Cappo (DC). Our erstwhile reviewer, Jason Rickerby (JR) has his Grado SR-80 ("Blackbird") also, as his perennial favourite.
We very much admire his RA-1 headphone amplifier.
