When Mark Levinson set up Red Rose Music, we were delighted.
He had delightful bookshelf monitors, the R3. Ribbons were the way for us, ala Hermes, we thought.
What was the name of his tube amplifier, we wondered, when we saw the published photo. A poorly staged glass of red wine obscured the not-yet re-labeled Chinese brand. Ok, transistor, but you get the picture.
A very competent man, Mark Levinson, founder of Cello Music and Sound systems, an avid Cellist, watch collector, and founder of Mark Levinson, itself, sets up shop at a busy New York location.
We like the look of his re-branded Spirit more than we like the look .. of the new NAD. :)
It's bolder. Not Boulder, Colorado, but bolder in an American kind of way. Designed in China. Labeled in the USA.
What a nice piece.
It took a man to put some walk-in / walk-by Hi-Fi in the Whitney.
We have a CD of his (Mark Levinson's), "Mark Levinson Live Recordings at" Red Rose Music, "Volume 1." We never heard it with Red Rose, but it sounds fine with Martin Logan and
