We like the Sennheiser CX500 so well, we'll have another, por favor!!! :)
Both are slightly fragile products if you are clumsy and rely on them like we do, so nine of each will do us well for the next decade. That said, we know of someone who managed to make a CX series in-ear last 7-8 years of regular school wear-and-tear. She knew how to take care of things, so that's more than we can say for ourselves.
We like both headphones quite a bit. About 80%, to state our view.
The CX 500 is excellent for jogging, and the K375 is a perfect in-town replaceable headphone. Good enough to wear on the high-street, getting out of your Mercedes Black edition. Gun metal grey, don't you know - those ear tips!?
In terms of cost, that's $2080.00 CDN, or about the price of a set of Audeze LCD-3, this year. [$2048.00 CDN] A starter budget for regular-use audiophile headphones. Goes well with an AudioQuest Dragonfly 1.2, now lowered to $149 from $249 and then $199. Wow.
It's been our experience, that's it's best at least to get two of something good, so you always have a replacement. We only have one Dragonfly, but we're not using it, typically. Still doesn't work with Vista, which is our Windows OS of preference.
When we switch over to Mac OS, with the upcoming MacBook air with Retina display - perhaps next year, we'll be in heaven. It's like Skiing - the best feeling for the old pro is often taking the boots off.
We've been with Linux. We've been with OS/2. We've been with DOS. We've been with MacOS. And we've been with Boot-Loaders.
Exhibit B: The AKG K375 In-Ear Headphone:
