Magic Number

There is a Magic number.

144.48 dB

If you are getting a 24-bit Digital Audio Device, be sure to check that the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) and that the Dynamic Range (DNR) are at least 144.48 dB.

If not, then they are not a 24-bit device.

That's how they get 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz from. :)

24 * 6.02 = 144.48

Check your audio device.

There is another magic number.

192.64

32 * 6.02 = 192.64

That's how you get 192 kHz and 64 bit from er.

If you are getting a 32-bit audio device.

Be sure to check (none yet anyway) that the SNR is at least 192.64 dB (for it to qualify) as well as the DR (dynamic range).
