It's the ArmaLite or Colt or Knights Armament Company (Diemaco - Canada) Mk 12 Special Purpose Rifle. Either Mod 0 or Mod 1.
It looks the a good home defense weapon. The magazine looks a bit short in his hands. Not like the handgun used by Jared Lee Loughner (19 rounds). Glock 19.
Ah, Sandy Hook. Certain things, no matter how terrible can not have but positive associations. Like having a hooker on a beach. How can you not smile at the positive connotations?
