When getting into the hobby, I purchased a number of CD's at Charlies Place. It was a vast, dreadful establishment full of moldy stuff, but I dredged the bargain aisle, looking for nufty stuff. ($10 JMJ CD's vs $50-60 for imports).
Later, when they were shutting down their record business, I applied for a job at their currency department, thinking that tourists could use help changing their money. This was the last time I applied for work, before taking up shopping.
You will find in reviews, some preference for used equipment, purchased from audiophile retailers, on account of this experience.
Looking back, it could be my latent curiosity for Charlie Parker which lead me to shop at such a wild establishment.
