Ubiquity in Design

For every design, there is inspiration.

Take this Michael Bras Herb Shears ($57.00 USD, $49.00 Williams Sonoma). Clearly, it takes its inspiration from the Davidoff Cigar Cutter ($ USD). While the knife (scissor) portion of the Michael Bras may be superior, clearly the mid-section of the Davidoff is superior. Look at the roundness of the corners, the quality of the logo, and the shine of the scissor edge. Maybe you could say there is some roughness to the Davidoff screw, which is almost garden-like in inspiration.

Speaking of screws, let's look at the Dharma D1000 Headphone ($ USD) by ENIGMAcoustics. It has a wierd design element. On one side it is fine, with a B&W P7 Headphone cut to it. On the other, you will see a little bolt.
