Audiophile Psychology

Audiophiles have an interesting psychology. They treat their equipment, and then alters as if themselves. They get stands for their amps, to lie them on, and then stands for those stands. As it goes on, the whole setup gets more rickety with age.

Some stereo manufacturers say that 3-points is the optimum for a good, stable design. We are thinking the recent loudspeakers of Totem Acoustics. We first encountered this setup with the well-regarded audio brand, YBA.

Touching each component at the back, each side, we soon discovered that these components were not stable at all, and rather exhibited rocking motion.

Some manufactures have actually made triangular components. We are thinking GTE and their well-regarded Trinity DAC.

Thor Audio originally made circular (round) components, as opposed to triangular, or titularly, rectangular, as is passive in high end audio.

Today, Merill Audio carries on the name and tradition.
