Wilson Audio Specialties Duette Series 2 Loudspeaker Review

Dave Wilson was a recording engineer. He made products such as the Wilson Audio WATT / Puppy, which was a fixture of the high end HiFi market for many a year, and many an iteration.

As a product, his Wilson Audio Duette is shaped very nicely. It has a wonderful slope to the cabinet, a cathedral or St. Louis arch to the front, and a nice line to the side. While it is a second iteration of the product, it looks to be a first prototype, but that is all right.

You can see elements of architecture, automotive, and golden age radio (1950's) in it's make-up. It juxtaposes nay straddles the division between slender and strong, yet in the end comes out chunky like Cambells.

The audio quality we would say is on par with a home audio radio. It's about the thing your department store would sell in their furniture department if they could. On their own, the components of the Duette are fine, but put together, they are without depth. A bit like a sinking Venice to say.

The typical audiophile would would adopt the Duette, would likely pair them with DCS, on the front.

The stand is a bit wide and low. It would make a nice alien tower in a Vin Diesel movie, if placed along a promenade in matching pairs.

The back plate would be fine in the 1950's, but is a bit retrospect in this day and age.
