Considering yourself special is an important step to appreciation.

The Audio Research VSI replicates the looks of the Constellation Hercules, without the obtuse design.

In terms of design, we only dislike the circle motif on the face, and the little black dot, which is used for remote control.

Perhaps this dislike for the black dot, which would be fine on its own, began with our time at Adbusters.

Their black Dot sneaker was Kalle Lasn's first first sell-out to the market he so spoke for and against. It betroves us to read that he was responsible for Occupy Wall St., also.



In terms of design suggestions, our only thought for improvement would be replacing the Vacuum Fluorescent Display with a LCD, to allow for customized foreground-background colour combinations.
In vogue is the AudioQuest purple, also used by Ressonance Labs for their Herus+, which would be a solid plus. The black dot could be moved. In the center, it's a little bass.

As for the sonics, the Audio Reseach should sit well with us. In reference to the Constellation Reference series, it is alter worthy, should you pull the trigger. The tubes used are a bit chubby, but "oy vey!"
