Interesting Audio

Hawthorne Audio Rainier Reference
Hawthorne Loudspeaker

www.hawthorneaudio.us/docs/RainierAnnouncement.pdf

Mount Rainier is a local mountain, not far from Tacoma, Washington. (It's other name). Mother of All Waters, or Simply Larger than Mount Baker - you decide.

Helibrunn recently altered us to the existence of Hawthorne Loudspeaker's Rainer Reference. Sort of like saying that Mount Rainier (also a stratovolcano) is about to go.

From the rear, the Hawthorne is elegant. A curved geometry in close proximity (attached - see below) to a large pole. One could say that the AMT tweeter resembles a vagina, symbolically, and the two 15" Isis bass drivers closely resemble butt-cheeks.

From this view, everything is exposed. The cross-over. The hookup wire. Neigh, everything. It's an elegant system.

The colours are similar to the B&W 802 Diamond which we prefer, which also has nice curves.

Should you decide that the curve appeal of the Rainer is more attractive to you than the Jamo Reference Loudspeaker, Hawthorne Audio is more than happy to supply. To us, it's another contender with the Sanders for a home ($15,000) loudspeaker that properly does 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz.

Apogee Caliper Loudspeaker

The caliper is an interesting measurement that often applies to the arm. It's the measure between two points. In your case, your loudspeaker an one so grand as the Apogee Caliper, dare we say.

Analysis Audio is today's manufacturer of such and makes the Amphitryon, which we think will fit your home.

It's an elegant at stately set, a bit 1970's, and they also make the Epsilon, which may suit your environment more. Elipson Loudspeakers is another thing, entirely. We feature their 4260 model, prominently.

Viva 845 Headphone Amplifier
Viva Aurora - Tube Detail Photo
The Viva 845 Headphone Amplifier is an amazing product. What's not to like about life?

We don't have a photo of the 845. It's an upcoming product, as it their DAC / CD Player, which we wish to feature. Here's one of their Aurora, their finest amplifier, however... Their logo, a little World cup.

Mea culpa. We like the red luster of their chasis, reflecting the orange-gold glow of four lovely 845 tubes. They're not protected of course, but they look protected, sheltered by this lovely chassis arrangement. The construction is on par with the Stax 007T Amplifier, and the design is solid.

We don't like the recessed volume plate, but that's about it, as for the fascia. The logo is the logo.

Really Interesting Audio:

Viva Master Horn
Really interesting to us, however, is the Viva Master Horn system. The speaker itself resembles something you would build for yourself, were you interested. We've followed closely, Jean Yves, Audiophile (France)  and Romy the Cat, USA.

It's a bit anti-B&W Matrix 801, with cabinet flare instead of cabinet enclosure, and yet, three primary connected sections, with tweeter-on-top. So close.

It's comforting in being JBL Everest

/ K2 in scope and yet attractive.

You can't ask for a better statement of hi fi than this.

The bass bins are reminiscent of the Ferrari Art.Engine tower, so Avantgarde, and reminiscent of two Preying mantis heads and teeth, cosmetically We are talking in terms of construction and deconstruction, both.

Were you to get into hi fi with a first product, you can't ask for a better entry than the Viva Master Horn system. It's good looking enough to allow for you to swap it in again at a later date, as your setup collection grows.

So simple. So elegant. Well-enough fine.
