White Magic: 802

As any magician or magical-leaning person will tell you, there are many kinds of magic. In our case, we will choose to show and illustrate "White Magic" for our publication.

For us, it is a 60/40 split. Our convenient purchase example was getting dressed well to buy some Starbucks sugar-free Hazlenut coffee syrup. $10/bottle, 4 bottles.

We wore for the occasion a leather bomber jacket by Coach, a leather bag by Feragamo, and our favourite hi-fi T-Shirt, a Toronto Blue Jays team-shirt.

We of course partnered the outfit with appropriate dress-slacks and shoes, and a good locally-sourced 9-Stone-faced item (belt).

Buying supplies is a big deal for us. It keeps us from going out all the time, which allows us to get stuff done. Having a minimum supply of 8 months of something does it for now. 8 identical suites, 8 identical headphones, etc. etc.

Or 8 bottles of coffee syrup in this example.

What makes it "white magic?" Well, in this case, we paid $40 for 4 bottles, and put the remaining 6 $10 bills in our left pocket, with a nice Tiffany silver chain.

Walking back, we noticed the 6 bills we no longer in our pocket, and we though to ourselves "let's see if this is a nice place like Japan" and if the bills would still be lying on the sidewalk where they left our pocket.

Of course, this isn't a wonderful place like Japan, and they were not, however we did see a nice woman in a white toque on our walk back, after looking to see if the bills were left untouched, and we though to ourselves "if that's what it takes to make ourselves pure, then that's that."

So a "VAT" of 60% = "White Magic." That is, for every $40 purchase, giving away $60 to others unrelated.

Most churches recommend 10% to them from net income, instead.

Lesson A: What ever costs you nothing is most valuable. Ok.
Lesson B:  Whatever you can not covet is valued yet more. Ok.

Lesson C:
