As any interior decorator will tell you, it's quite a thing to match furniture to a room. Everything much be spacious, and elegantly proportioned. Hi Fi is no different. It's furniture at it's heart. That happens to produce sound, mind you.
Take the Eggleston Works Ivy Signature. It's an elegant concoction of MDF and aluminum well laminated in elegant white. Spire like, in it's design, you might think it would be posing in almost any place. Something about it's sloped-back front, and elongated top give it an air. You would wish the front recessed - as it is, it's a bit mariachi in like.A guitar case, of abstract proportion.
At $149,900.00 CDN most homes would likely be more happy with the Nine ($21,150.00 CDN), which plumbs not quite so deep. A bit like the Focals we looked at earlier, just a bit less expensive.
25 Hz vs. 13 Hz is quite a bit different in sound reproduction.
Not many listening or living rooms for that matter can extend back more than the required 42 feet needed for a 13 Hz fundamental that the Ivy can deliver to your ear.
